Edgewood Golf Course Re-Construction on Holes 2, 3 & 4

Construction Update as of August 24, 2010

The month of August was not very kind for our growing in of the new holes. Two major thunderstorms washed out much of the seeding done on fairways #2 and #4. Staff will be reseeding these areas starting on August 26th for the thrid time. The green on hole #2 is growing in fairly well.

Construction Update as of July 21, 2010

The project has entered the final construction phase, grow in. Duininck Bros. Construction has completed their work and will be leaving the site this week. At this time, the new holes look great. The golf maintenance staff has completed seeding all the greens, tee boxes, fairways and rough areas. Staff is irrigating as needed and hoping for favorable weather for the grow in phase of the project. Sod has been placed to allow hole #4 to play as a short hole. Staff anticipates being able to open hole #4 next week. This will allow for 16 holes to be available for play instead for 15 holes.

Construction Update as of July 9, 2010

This week, the irrigation is almost complete. The contractor is working on the final wiring. To date, the greens have been seeded and the cart paths have been completed. At this time, the contractor is working on the pond. The Architect will be onsite next week to review the progress of the re-construction on holes 2, 3 & 4. Staff estimates the project to be completed in a week.

Construction Update as of June 3, 2010

"As conditions allow" this is our proposed schedule to complete holes 2, 3 & 4:

• Complete black dirt on project - June 11
• Complete work on greens #2 and #3 and seed - June 15
  
• Irrigation work started, completion - July 15
• Start installing concrete cart paths - June 18
• Completion of seeding - July 20
• Contractor to complete project and be off-site - July 15-30

Construction Update as of May 27, 2010

This week, the Architect came and reviewed the progress of the re-construction on holes 2, 3 & 4. Most of the black dirt should be in place by the first week in June and the new greens will be seeded by June 15th.

Construction Update as of May 13, 2010

This week, the Architect came and reviewed the progress of the re-construction on holes 2, 3 & 4. Also, the new greens and tees were staked. Next week, Duininck expects to complete the digging of the pond and moving material.

Construction Update as of May 6, 2010

At this time, Duininck continues to work through the wet weather. Some of the items accomplished so far are: cutting down grade on upper 2 fairway, raising area of future green, rough shaping for 3 tee, elevating site of new 3 green. Tree stumps have been removed. Asphalt paths have been removed.

Today and immediate future work is the digging of the pond and moving this material to raise new 4 fairway. Duininck plans to haul out the old asphalt next week, and the pond might be completely dug by the end of next week.

Edgewood Flood Mitigation Phase I

The Fargo Park Board approved Option B-1A on Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 at the park board meeting. Click here to view Option B-1A.

This Option relocates the tees for hole #2, has a new green constructed for hole #2, hole #3 becomes a par 3 with new tee boxes constructed up in the trees by the entrance road and reuses the green on #2 (proposed) which would now become green #3.  New tee boxes would be constructed for hole #4 and the existing green for hole #4 would be used and the existing #3 green would be abandoned.
