Lining Up: Do Your Feet Point to Your Target?
If you answered yes, your alignment is off. There are two important lines to consider when aiming: the line the travels on and the line your feet are on. These two lines should be parallel like railroad tracks and should never cross. If they do cross, your swing has to compensate to get the ball to the target which can lead to a variety of problems. The easiest way to check your alignment is to head to the driving range. Set up to the golf ball but before you hit, lay your club down at your feet. Step back from the ball and check where the club is pointing. If it's not parallel to your target, your alignment is off. Need help with your alignment? A Good Finish Means A Good Swing
The most underrated position in the golf swing is the finish. Even though the golf club has already made contact with the ball, the finish has a direct relationship to what the ball does. The finish is also the easiest part of the swing to check because all you have to do is freeze at the end of your swing. Here's a checklist to help you analyze your finish: Where is your weight? All of your weight should be on your front foot, if it's not, making good contact can be very difficult. Where are your hips pointed? For right handed players, your hips should point at, or left of your target. If they're not, it's difficult to get the clubface square when it makes contact with the ball. Where is the club? The club should end up touching your back. If it's not, the club is decelerating and you're losing distance. Need help with your finish; call Lisa for a lesson at 356-3070.
