El Zagal Golf Course
The entire course has been re-seeded. The course is doing very well.  Germination is taking place and staff anticipates the course to open on June 8th, weather permitting. The greens are in good condition.

Rose Creek Golf Course
The project is on schedule and we are continuing to look at having all 18 holes open by June 7th or earlier.  Staff anticipates that when all 18 holes open for play the course should be in good condition.  Hole #3 has the most damage on it.  It has been seeded and is germinating well.

Prairiewood Golf Course
The course is open and in excellent condition.

Osgood Golf Course
The course and driving range are open.  At this time the water table is high at Osgood due to the rivers being so high.  It is soft in a few spots on the course, but it is still very playable.

Edgewood Golf Course
The back 9 greens are in fair condition with moderate damage, but we do have substantial damage in the fairways and rough areas. The fairways are going to be seeded with a perennial rye grass and the sand traps will be repaired. On the front 9 there is more damage.  On #3 green the grass has been washed away, therefore #3 green will be re-seeded.  We are projecting the opening of 9 holes in early June.  Staff is still confident that a July 1st date for the opening of all 18 holes is still achievable, weather permitting.

El Zagal Golf Course
Good news . . . the greens have all survived and are recovering.  At this time, the tees have been re-seeded and most of the fairways have been re-seeded too. Everything is moving along and staff anticipates the course to open in a couple of weeks.  It will be pretty close to the June 1st date or a little after June 1st.  At this time, staff is very positive on the outlook of El Zagal Golf Course.

Rose Creek Golf Course
The removal of the dike and repair of the irrigation continues at this time.  The project is on schedule and we are continuing to look at having all 18 holes open by June 7th or earlier.  We are hoping to open a few more holes in the next couple of weeks.  At this time, we are confident that we will have 18 holes open in the near future.

Edgewood Golf Course
At this time, the driving range, the pro shop and Divots Restaurant are open.  The water has receded, but there still are a couple feet of water on several of the holes.  Staff is working diligently in washing down the river silt and cleaning off greens.  Staff is trying to do everything possible to revive the greens.  At this time, we are hoping for a June 1st opening for the front 9.  On the remaining holes we are still waiting to see and we are very optimistic for a June 15th opening.  It looks more feasible to have all 18 holes open by July 1st.

El Zagal Golf Course
Most of the water has been pumped out and the golf maintenance crew is waiting for the course to dry out.  The course will be seeded today.  Depending on the weather that follows, staff still anticipates a June 1st or earlier date for the course to open.  The carpentry staff has made significant progress on restoring the pro shop and it should be completed by May 18th.

Rose Creek Golf Course
9 holes are open for play.  The contractor is on site and they have made progress in getting the irrigation damage repaired and some of the other underground work completed. Also, they have been working on removing the dikes and placing the clay and dirt back into the holes.  At this time, everything looks positive to have all the work completed by June 7th, but the remaining holes will open prior to that date.  At this time, we do not have a definite date, but hopefully within a week to a week and a half we can start opening the remaining holes at Rose Creek for play. Seasons Restaurant is open for business.

Prairiewood Golf Course
The course is open, in excellent condition and receiving good play.

Osgood Golf Course

Edgewood Golf Course
Good news . . Divots Restaurant, the pro shop and the driving range are all open for business. At this time, the course still remains flooded with water.  The water is receding slower than anticipated.  At this time, we are starting to see signs that we will definitely have turf damage, but without having the water off we aren’t 100% sure.  Staff is hopeful that we can have 9 holes open by May 15th, but potentially it could be delayed to the following week.

El Zagal Golf Course
Most of the water has been pumped out and the golf maintenance crew has started cleaning the course.  The river level is still high, so we are still having issues with the water backing up onto the course.  Staff continues to pump down the water and clean other areas of the course.  At this time, we are waiting for the dike to be removed along the roadway, so we can have better accessibility to the course. Staff still anticipates a June 1st or earlier date for the course to open.

Rose Creek Golf Course
9 holes are open for play.  Crews have arrived and have started the process of removing the dike, fixing the holes and repairing the irrigation system.  Everything is on schedule and the contractor remains optimistic that the repairs to the course will be completed approximately by June 7th.  Staff is anticipating that we will have all 18 holes open for play well before the construction project is complete.  Majority of the damage was not directly on the course.  Seasons Restaurant is open for business.

Prairiewood Golf Course
The course is open and in excellent condition.

Edgewood Golf Course
The contractor will start removing the dike on the entrance road to Edgewood on Thursday, April 23rd.  The contractor will be working 24/7 and they hope to have it removed in 24 to 36 hours.  Staff anticipates they will be able to open up Divots at Edgewood on Friday night (April 24th).  With the removal of the dike and weather permitting it looks like the driving range will open soon.  We are waiting for the river level to go down. The river is at 30.73 feet, so we still have some time before we can work on the bowl area of the course.  Staff will continue to work on the course that is out of the water and get it in playable condition as soon as possible.

El Zagal Golf Course
The water is almost all pumped out of the course.  At this time, staff is waiting for the course to dry out.  The golf maintenance crew is washing down the course and getting it ready for play.  Staff still anticipates a June 1st or earlier date for the course to open.  Work on the prop shop has started.  To date, the demolition has started and next week the Park District carpenters will start rebuilding the areas that have been damaged.  Staff anticipates the pro shop to open at the time the course opens or prior to the opening of the course.

Rose Creek Golf Course
The contractor will begin early next week on the removal of the dike.  The contractor will coordinate with Park District staff to address the areas that are critical in getting the course open first.  At a river level of 30 feet, #4 green is under water and the north part of the course.  At this time, recovery of the course is progressing very well and staff doesn’t anticipate any serious problems.  At this time, there are 9 holes available for play. The holes are #8 through #16.  We are still optimistic that the other 9 holes as well as the driving range will be fully playable by June 5th or earlier.

Prairiewood Golf Course
The course opened on Friday, April 17th.  The course is in excellent condition.

Osgood Golf Course
The course and driving range opened on Friday, April 17th.  The course is in excellent condition.

Edgewood Golf Course
With a reduced crest of potentially 35.5 feet that will reduce the amount of potential damage on the higher areas of the golf course and areas will be playable earlier than expected. We are waiting for the dike to be removed off of the entrance road into Edgewood.  Per conversations with the City of Fargo we anticipate that it will start early next week and hopefully be fully removed by the weekend starting April 24th.  At that time, Divots will open and the driving range will open.  Depending on weather conditions, the front 9 holes at Edgewood should open shortly after.

El Zagal Golf Course
The pumps have been moved into place to start pumping it down as soon as river level reaches 33.5 feet.  It will take approximately three days to pump the water out of El Zagal.  Once the water has receded, golf maintenance staff will start clearing the debris and sludge left from the river water and work to try and get the course to open prior to June 1st.  At this time, everything remains positive.  There was damage done to the El Zagal pro shop.  Park District staff has started the demolition and rebuilding to repair the damage.  Should we not be able to have the damage repaired prior to the opening of the golf course we do have a portable trailer that will be brought in to be used as the pro shop.

Rose Creek Golf Course
Great news . . nine holes will be opening on Friday, April 17th at noon. There will be 9 holes available for play. The holes are #8, #9 and #10-#16.  The other areas of the course that have been damaged by the dike or the river are being worked on.  With the lower crest, golf maintenance staff have been cleaning areas of the golf course to get ready for play.  As far as removal of the dike, bids will be received Friday, April 17th, awarded on April 20th, with a potential start date of April 27th.  Majority of the damage done by the placement of the dike or the digging for the material of the dike have been identified.  The scope of the project is fully understood.  We are still optimistic that the other 9 holes as well as the driving range will be fully playable by June 5th or earlier.

Prairiewood Golf Course
The course will be opening at noon on Friday, April 17th.  The course is a little wet, but is in excellent condition and ready for play.

Osgood Golf Course
The course will be opening at noon on Friday, April 17th.  The driving range will be opening at 10:00 am on Friday, April 17th.  The course is a little wet, but in excellent condition and ready for play.

Reduced season pass prices have been approved by the Fargo Park Board.  An Edgewood season pass is 40% off of the normal rate, a Rose Creek season pass and the 5 fore 1 season pass are both 30% off the normal rate, and an El Zagal season pass is 20% off the normal rate. The rates will be posted on the website.

Edgewood Golf Course has experienced flooding over the entire golf course.  Once the second crest has hit, the water will recede and golf course staff will start the clean-up process and follow the water as it recedes.  We are optimistic at this time that due to the temperatures the damage to the actual turf might be minimal, just mostly dealing with excessive river settlement. Once the dike is removed from the road, Divots will start resuming normal services.  While at this time, we are not able to fully evaluate the impact of the flood waters on the course, golf course staff is fairly optimistic that they will be able to recover minimally 9 holes and have them open and operating by May 15th, 2009.  With the balance of the course potentially opening by or before June 15th, 2009.  This is based on normal weather conditions not perfect weather conditions, but it also does not reflect extremely poor weather conditions or additional crests and flooding beyond this existing second crest next week.

El Zagal Golf Course has been fully inundated by flood waters. Once the flood waters drop down to approximately 33 feet, staff will start pumping the water and cleaning behind it as it recedes.  Golf Course staff projects an opening of June 1st, 2009 or earlier.  The opening of the course will depend on how much silt is on the course once the water is removed.

Rose Creek Golf Course has a dike that has been placed through the middle of the course.  The location for the construction of the dike was made by Park District staff.  This allowed the damage to the course to be minimized and out of play where possible.  The course selected for the dike keeps it off of the fairways for the most part and in the rough areas.  The Park District is in the process of seeking bids from golf course contractors to remove the dike, rebuild the areas that were damaged, repair the irrigation and other technical areas of the golf course.  As the water recedes from the golf course, golf maintenance staff will be washing down the course and working on having the recovery process happen as soon as possible.  As of this time, based on current weather forecasts, staff anticipates there will be 9 holes available for play at Rose Creek as early as April 20th, 2009 and potentially as early as June 6th, 2009 for all 18 holes available with ground under repair areas but playable.  With what is known of the golf course conditions, golf staff is pretty optimistic on the ability to repair and have Rose Creek Golf Course up and running.

Prairiewood Golf Course has not been affected by the flood and with favorable weather conditions could possibly open April 20th, 2009 or earlier.

Osgood Golf Course has not been affected by the flood so far.  If it is not affected by the rising Sheyenne River and we continue to have favorable weather, it could possibly open April 20th, 2009 or earlier.

P.S.  We can guarantee you that the Park District staff will do everything possible to have the Fargo Golf Courses playable before the dates indicated here.

The Fargo Park Board will be reviewing the current season pass rates that are based on a full season.  With Fargo experiencing epic flood levels that have not been experienced before the Park Board will be looking at reduced season pass fees for Rose Creek Golf Course, El Zagal Golf Course, Edgewood Golf Course and the 5 fore 1 season pass.  We anticipate those rates to be available by April 24th, 2009 or earlier.  The rates will be posted on the website.
