Course Description
Hole #1: An
easy start to a fun 9-hole executive style course. This par 3 is
completely straight and has minimal trouble. Watch out for the trees
on the right as they have been known to devour many errant tee shots.
Hole #2: Although
this is a rather short par 4, it is very easy to card a large number.
With water straight off of the tee and out of bounds left, shot
placement is a must. The approach shot is rather straightforward
as long as you stay left of the water bordering the green.
Hole #3: The
shortest par 3 on the course, this hole plays much more difficult
than it looks. With water right and bunkers bordering the green
an accurate tee shot is a must for an easy par.
Hole #4: This
par 5 can be a real test if it is not played properly. Out of bounds
borders the left side of the hole but should not come into play
with even the most wayward of tee shots. There are a couple of fairway
bunkers on the right side, which have been known to swallow a few
golf balls. Going for the green in two is possible but a large tree
in the center of the fairway makes it very risky. If you plan on
making it a 3-shot hole be sure to hit your second shot short of
the cluster of trees on the right, the water on the left and leave
yourself a window around the massive tree in the fairway.
Hole #5: This
par 3 is slightly longer and a little more challenging than the
preceding par 3’s. With bunkers left and water right the only
room for error is being short of the green.
Hole #6: When
arriving on the sixth tee players may wonder where the green is.
This dogleg left par 4 is quite long and rather difficult. With
water right and trees left the tee shot must be accurate. The approach
shot is to an elevated green and can be tough to judge the distance.
Hole #7: This
par 3 is quite long and the bunkers on the right make it very difficult.
A long iron is usually needed and keeping the ball left will help
keep the score to a minimum.
Hole #8: Keeping
the tee shot from going left is mandatory on this hole. With out
of bounds left and not much trouble right a nice fade will leave
a nice position for the approach shot. For the approach, the bunkers
on the front right will consume any shot hit short and right. Hope
for a birdie on the tee and you just may leave with one.
Hole #9:
Many locals consider this hole to be the signature hole. With bunkers
guarding the green on the left side and water guarding the front
and right of the green it is a very challenging par 3. Any shot
short of the green will more than likely end up wet. The distance
on this hole can be very deceiving. Make par, smile, and come back
to Prairiewood another day!
